Slater is participating in the 2023 Community Visioning Program. Iowa State University is gathering information from community members to learn your opinions on how to improve the community’s landscape through transportation enhancements. The goal of this project is to develop a landscape plan that illustrates the vision of Slater. Your input is an important part of this process and your ideas about community design and enhancement are valuable to the Slater visioning committee.
Join us for focus groups
In this participatory assessment, we want to find out which factors and conditions affect transportation use in Slater, where these factors and conditions are most prevalent, and how they influence route and transportation choices locally. Because residents have the best knowledge of how Slater’s transportation system works, we use focused, small-group conversations, mapping, and photos of the best and worst to understand local transportation. We conduct focus groups with a variety of user types, including parents, youth, older adults, people with mobility issues, and active recreationists, to identify factors that affect transportation use. We will be conducting focus groups high school students on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at Ballard High School.

Sign up for Students 17 & younger
Students 17 years old or younger who want to participate in a focus group can sign up by clicking “Sign Up For Youth 17 & younger” below. To participate, youth must give digital written assent and their parents must give digital written parental consent. Assent and parental consent are included in the sign-up process.
Sign up for Students 18 & older
Students 18 years old and older who want to participate in a focus group can sign up by clicking “Sign Up For Students 18+” below. Because this is a research project, Iowa State is required to obtain digital written consent from participants, which is included in the sign-up process.
