Dow City is participating in the 2024 Community Visioning Program. Iowa State University is gathering information from community members to learn your opinions on how to improve the community’s landscape through transportation enhancements. The goal of this project is to develop a landscape plan that illustrates the vision of Dow City. Your input is an important part of this process and your ideas about community design and enhancement are valuable to the Dow City visioning committee.
Join us for a focus group
We want to find out which factors and conditions affect transportation use in Dow City, where these factors and conditions are most prevalent, and how they influence route and transportation choices locally. Because residents have the best knowledge of how Dow City’s transportation system works, we use focused, small-group conversations, mapping, and photos of the best and worst to understand local transportation. We conduct focus groups with a variety of user types, including parents, youth, older adults, people with mobility issues, and active recreationists, to identify factors that affect transportation use. In the fall, we conducted focus groups at your schools to obtain input from youth. We will be conducting focus groups with adults on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at O’Meara’s, 107 Franklin St, Dow City.
Group 1 – Steering Committee: 9:00 – 10:00 am
Group 2 – Active Recreationists: 9:00 – 10:00 am
Group 3 – Parents: 10:15 – 11:15 am
Group 4 – Older Adults: 10:15 – 11:15 am
Group 5 – Mobility Challenged: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
The deadline to sign up is noon on Friday, March 22nd.
Adult Sign Up
Adults who want to participate in a focus group can sign up by clicking “Adult Sign Up” below. Because this is a research project, Iowa State is required to obtain digital written consent from participants, which is included in the sign-up process.
Youth Sign Up
Youth 17 years old or younger who want to participate in a focus group can sign up by clicking “Youth 17 & Younger Sign Up” below. To participate, youth must give digital written assent and their parents must give digital written parental consent. Assent and parental consent are included in the sign-up process.
